What I learned!

I learned that there is an immense amount of information and tools that are at my fingertips that I am not using. I really think that this is a great tool that can be used to keep your students up to date and also give them many resources to use for your class. Overall it was a very informational class that I really enjoyed.

Classroom Expectations

With being a Physical Education teacher the most important expectation I have for my students is active participation throughout the lessons. I keep the rest of my expectations pretty simple: 1)Be respectful, 2) Be on time 3) Be safe. I keep them farely vague so as a class we can further define what these 3 B's actually mean to the class. This is how I put some ownership back onto the kids and let them make some decisions.

Blogging Instructionally: Week 1 Post # 1

Blogging Instructionally: Week 1 Post # 1: "Have you ever blogged before? What is your experience with it? What do you know about it? Have you ever read other people's blogs?"
I have never blogged before so my experience with it is very limited. I think that it can be a very useful tool in the classroom as well as with friends and family. I have not read any blogs as of yet but plan on learning much more about this communication tool.

Introduction

My name is Matt Moore and I am a Physical Education teacher at Bellevue West High School. I am also a coach of 3 sports, Football, Basketball and Track. I was born and raised in Omaha where I attended high school at Omaha Gross. I completed both my undergard and masters program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I have a 2 year old daughter and 9 month old twin boys that keep me very busy and very grounded.
My experience with technology is very limited. I am a person who checks my email, bank account and my gradebook on a daily basis. Other than that I do not use technology all that much. I am a PC person because that is what the district gave me ha! I teach Physical Education so I do not use technology a lot in my classes. A great amount of time in my class is spent participating in various activities or sports.
With my limited experience in technology I feel that I need to improve in this area. Promoting 21st cetury learners and effectively communicating with my students is very important to me as a teacher. I feel if I am going to be successful in this area I need to become more educated in the technology field. This is why I am taking this course and hope to take many things back to my students and athletes.
